Mayors throughout the U.S. embraced the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act in August, which is considered the largest climate investment in the nation’s history. Experts warned, however, that due to certain requirements in the law, climate progress largely will depend on governments using the new federal funding wisely.
Cities are preparing for the influx of funds that could bolster their efforts to reduce carbon emissions, pursue climate justice and become more resilient to the more frequent and worsening extreme weather events caused by climate change.
