Transportation infrastructure expert has been involved for 20 years.
LOS ANGELES (May 16, 2019) – Shahram Vahdat, PE, group transportation director and vice president for HNTB Corporation, has been appointed president of the board of directors of American Council of Engineering Companies – Los Angeles County chapter. He has been a member of the board of directors since 1999, holding numerous executive positions. This will be the second time Vahdat is serving as president.
“I am honored to serve in a leadership capacity for our Los Angeles chapter, which is comprised of over 100 member firms,” said Vahdat. “Our strategic goals for this year include enhancing our communications and increasing member services, expanding our monthly luncheon programs, and updating our website to better serve our members.”
Vahdat also serves as scholarship program chair for ACEC-LA. Recently, four deserving engineering and land surveying students were awarded $20,000 scholarships to help further their engineering careers. He also is chair for ACEC/Caltrans District 7 liaison meetings.
Vahdat has devoted more than 30 years of his career to serving the infrastructure construction industry and has provided leadership for numerous infrastructure projects in Pasadena, Irwindale, Vernon and Los Angeles.
In addition to ACEC-LA, Vahdat also is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Women’s Transportation Seminar and Construction Management Association of America. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Shiraz University – formerly known as Pahlavi University – in Shiraz, Iran.
In his role as HNTB’s group transportation director, Vahdat leads highway planning and design projects, specifically using his expertise in roadway and interchange design and arterial access improvement projects. He is based in Los Angeles.
